Hot Stone Dinner

My last dinner in Regensburg they did something special for us. They held a hot dinner for us. We had hot rocks that we cooked our raw meat and veggies on them it was fun! Here is some video and and pictures of it.

It was a fun evening but bitter sweet. I was leaving in about 12 hours. It was our last meal together. I found out later, that Ruth went into labor and gave birth to Matthew Wallace Greene, my newest Nephew.

Levanto, Italy Part Two

I posted pictures of my first afternoon in Levanto, Italy, but never had time to post Saturday's photos. It was a free day, that we could do anything we wanted to with our time. I took a hike, walked on the beach and updated my blog four times that day. I learned how to use the multi-shot function on my parents' camera and had fun taking pictures and videos of the waves crashing on the jetty.
There were tiny Here are the pictures!

I know I have not written on here for a while, I'm sorry. The plan is to now finish my last paper tonight (if possible, if not then tomorrow) edit it tomorrow, then send it in, start finish typing up my journal; due Saturday (Friday in Oregon), and then I hope next week to do a week of blogs that never were written up and upload photos that were never posted too. Then I think I will leave a closing message since I am back home and quit blogging, but I am not for sure about closing it though, so check back next week starting Sunday or Monday for blog posts that were never posted while in Germany. Thanks for following it everyone!

It was an eventful trip!!!

I got up about 4:20am Germany time (7:20pm PST), Talked to my dad for a few minutes, found out that Ruth had gone into labor and had her baby, Matthew Wallace Greene, then left for the airport. I then sat there for about an hour waiting for the Delta officials to get to work and check in my bag. Then I had to argue with her for five minutes that my backpack that had my laptop was my personal bag, and my other mini suitcase was my carry-on. Since the person who asked me a whole bunch of question (Like did you pack your suitcase? Is there anything that would look like a weapon? Etc) had put a Delta Approved tag on both my backpack and carry-on she finally let me proceed without checking a second bag. I also had to throw my shampoo and Conditioner away because my bag was slightly too heavy. Then I went through security fine and waited at my gate. The AmBex Girl I was traveling with went to get coffee, and sat down and started talking to this guy (she can make friends ANYWHERE). She found out that he is rich and was watching my whole argument and if that Delta Lady had forced me to check a second bag he was going to go pay for it. That was miracle #1. Then we sat there another two hours and finally boarded our plane. I was unfortunately nauseated the whole ten and a half our flight because I was so Nervous about going through Customs. I couldn't eat the food they gave me because it had a weird sauce on it plus I was nauseated. So I ate about 4 bags of pretzels and drank cola, apple juice and a little Orange Juice the whole flight. Then When I went through Customs they had changed the amount you could bring in without paying taxes to higher and I didn't have to pay taxes on presents. That was Miracle #2. Then Because I had been riding in Germany, and to a barn in Wales I had to go through the Agricultural Re-Immigration Process. The people in front of me were having SO many problems they just scanned my bags and waved me through. That was Miracle #3. Then I had no problems going through security with a snow-globe in my carry-on in my quart-sized bag (just ask Ruth or me about another time and me and snow-globes and carry-on). That was Miracle #4. Then I got to my gate and tried to get bumped, because they had combined two flights, but it didn't happen. So I boarded and we took off. This was supposed to only be a 5hour and 15Minute Flight. I hadn't had any real food for about 12 hours, and the plane wouldn't except cash, so the guy next to me bought me a fruit and cheese box, this was miracle #5 well about half-way through we had a medical emergency happen. We had three doctors and a couple nurses and they asked anyone with seizure medicine to please give it to the doctors. They still couldn't control the emergency and we had to Divert to Salt Lake City Airport. We landed really hard, Taxied the Fastest I ever had, When Turning corners it felt like when a car is driving to fast and takes a corner to fast, then slammed on our brakes when we got to our gate, the plane came to a SUDDEN stop. Then Paramedics came on board and took the lady off, and we had to stay on the plane but could move around for a total of 20-30 minutes. I called my dad using the nice-guys phone next to me, same one that bought me a meal, and they had already left the house and had to turn around. They had to load the correct amount of food and fuel on to the plane while we were siting there, and so once we took off, we got snacks again. We finally arrived in Portland Airport about 8:10pm PST (This is almost 25 hours after I had gotten up in Regensburg to leave, and I only had 3 hours of sleep before leaving, and then about 2 on the first plane. I was EXHAUSTED), about an hour and a half late. We got my bags and went to Taco Bell for dinner for me, and then to the barn where I said hi to my horse. I didn't get to ride because my plane was late and so it was to late to ride. So I got up the next morning, and cleaned stalls and then rode my horse. It was an eventful trip.

Its time to Check-In

I just received an email telling me to check in on my flight. It has gone fast these last three weeks. They have kept us VERY busy, and I have one last paper to finish, due tomorrow, before I leave. I will now have left Germany in 23hrs, 53minutes. I have mixed feelings. I still have a paper to write once I get back home, and I need to finish my journal and turn it in too. I am sorry there haven't been many posts with pictures lately, but I have been really busy. My first stop after Taco Bell for take-away-dinner is the Barn. It will have been 89 days since I rode her. I miss her a lot. I didn't get too homesick for my family, because of skype. I can't wait to hopefully see most of you Sunday.

UPDATE:
Checked in for flights

Easter

For Easter, I got up, went to Church (I wore my Dirndl), had an Easter Basket Hunt (called nests or nesters) outside, went on river cruise on the Danube River, hiked for a while, then went to dinner at a fancy restaurant in Regensburg. I also managed to either call or skype everyone in my family, five different places (2 in Oregon, 1 in China, 1 in Hawaii, and 1 in Texas). It was my first Easter away from home. It was a very different Easter than I have ever had before. At home on Saturday evening I dye eggs then put together and hide my parents' Easter Basket. Then on Sunday I get up, find my basket hid in the house somewhere, then find Easter Eggs outside then to Church, then brunch after church, next go home and find plastic eggs in the forest with coins in them. Then read the Christian book from my Easter Basket, and eat dinner and do homework. It was VERY different this year but still fun. Plus we had the Easter Sermon Translated into English for us. I will hopefully post pictures tomorrow, no promises. We are swamped with things to do before departing EARLY on Thursday morning.

Rothenburg

Today for our last Saturday we visited Rothenburg (pronounced: Root-in-burg). I have been hearing about this city for years. My family visited it when they were living in Germany over 30 years ago. My oldest sister still remembers something specific about it, the TORTURE MUSEUM. I have heard how she cannot forget this museum. I have been wanting to visit all semester, and even lived 20 minutes away from it when staying in  Pfalzgrafenweiler Germany my second travel week. I just didn't get a chance ti visit then. However, I finally got to go and finished up my shopping. Rothenburg is a completely walled in city. It is AMAZING!!! I took many pictures, and will try to post them soon, maybe not tomorrow, as they are keeping us quite busy for Easter.

Weather and Evangelizing

Many different people stay at our hostel. A few days ago, there was a school group here from Kazakhstan. If you are wondering where that is, I had to look it up too. It is Below Russia and above China. After listening in on their awards presentation, then taking group photos of them with their camera, a couple of them wanted to stay and either practice their English or talk to a REAL American, I'm not sure which. So we chatted for a couple of hours about everything including politics. They thought all Americans loved our current president. Near the end I asked them what religion they believed in, and one was I think Buddhist and the other claimed Christian. To the Buddhist I was able to ask a few probing questions that may make him think about what he really believe and does it make sense. He believes what he believe because that is what he was raised in and I'm not sure he had questioned whether it was the True Religion or not. This is one of those instances where our director is right, that whenever we leave the classroom, we are entering the missions field. I am not sure the girl was really a Christian because they did a lot of talking in their native tongue before answering my question. However, maybe our missionaries are making progress.

Now to Weather
It has been cloudy, rainy, and windy here. It doesn't seem to stop raining sometimes. It seems to be prepping me for the return home. But oh how I miss the sunny weather from Italy!

Levanto, Italy, First 24 Hours

We drove from Florence through Pisa to Levanto Italy on Friday. We arrived there about four in the after noon. It was warm sunny and BEAUTIFUL! Us girls headed straight for the beach. Sadly it was windy on the beach and the water was the temperature of Oregon's Ocean. COLD! So I only waded. Then on Saturday I went again to the beach, and had fun playing with different settings on my parents' camera, and took WAY TO MANY photos of the ocean, and it crashing on the jetty. I will hopefully upload those pictures off my camera another day. It was nice and relaxing there. Here are some photos of my fist 24 hours in Levanto, Italy.

This was dinner our first night everyone is in it

It was cloudy on Saturday unfortunately

The old Castle of the City, it looks like it is in good repair, and as if people still live in it

One Last Post about the last of my time in Wales

My Daddy left Wednesday Morning, (his flight was at 6, so we left the house at 3:30AM). After going back to the house and crashing for hours, I spent the rest of the day working on Homework and other things. Then on Thursday I was supposed to go riding. However, when we got there, the lady only had enough time to feed the horses and let us pet them because her husband was sick and needed her back home. I have been invited back though, and IF I ever am able to visit South Wales again, I shall try to go riding again. However, I still took pictures with the horses. Then on Friday I went to Swansea, and walked around and got Ice Cream. Swansea is on the bay, and it was a BEAUTIFUL Sunny day, so I took lots of pictures. Here are pictures from my last time in Wales.

The Lady's two horses, they are mother and daughter

They had weird European Shaving jobs done, I have rarely seen this kind of shaving done to horses on the West Coast of the USA

Swansea Bay

A closer shot of Swansea and the castle, the Bay is at the bottom of the photo

People walking on the Bay

This reminds me of the bay near the old Pacific City (in Oregon) that went into the sea after the Jetty near Tillamook was built and changed the water currents, it is low tide in this photo

Their son Jesse and their dog Scamp

A Beautiful Swan on the pond near their house

Their cat Fridged, named because whenever they open the fridge, even if he is upstairs he comes running

Their dog Scamp, he is a Collie

Oh did I forget to mention that they drive on the wrong side of the road, the left side in the United Kingdom =) It kind of makes sense with the round-abouts, going clockwise around them instead of counter clockwise. It was weird going to the left side of the car, to get in the passenger's seat. A couple times early in the morning, I accidentally went to the right side of the car, and had to be reminded that my seat was on the left side of the car

The Airport, ready to head home to Germany

Another picture of the Sunrise, It changed color every minute

One last picture of the BEAUTIFUL Sunrise from the plane

We loaded and unloaded on to the tarmac at Amsterdam and Cardiff, and in Amsterdam you had to take a bus to the rest of the airport

I was on a new plane the from Amsterdam to Munich, this one has a Turn off Electronics Devices sign instead of a No Smoking Sign
